The British Pie Awards

Baldy’s Chicken Kiev wins Supreme Champion – ‘Pie of Pies’

The Chicken Kiev Pie, from Baldy’s Pies in Wigan, has been crowned Supreme Champion or ‘Pie of Pies’ at the 18th British Pie Awards 2026, hosted in the UK’s Pie Capital, Melton Mowbray.

Also winner of the Chicken & Vegetable/Herb Pie class, this unique creation overcame 1,040 entries, a record number, from some of the UK’s most popular and exciting pie-makers to take home the crown.

In his tasting notes on the pie the Chief Judge commented that this is “A beautifully crafted pie with a pastry lid topping of panko, parsley with a hint of garlic which makes the pie so interesting to look at.  It was filled with melt in the mouth tender chicken and had a very subtle flavour which did not overpower the natural flavours of the chicken.
